Hey! My name is Jennifer Nesdoly-Power (the students call me Miss.Power) and I am close to completing the Teacher Education Program at the University of the Fraser Valley. I previously did my Degree in General Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey. I also have a Theatre Diploma from Douglas College and am a big supporter of the arts. I plan to find ways to incorporate music, dance and acting in my teaching to build students' confidence and have fun with them at the same time. I enjoy travelling and have done a year total in Europe. I hope to extend my list of visited countries and head to Thailand next!
My passion for teaching came at a young age. From grades 2-6 my mom recorded that I wanted to be a teacher just like Mr. Miller, my primary teacher. My grandmother was at teacher at a one room school house in Kipling, Saskatchewan and I remember her being very strict about my writing and made sure I knew how to hold the pencil properly. My love for the profession faded for a few years as I struggled through high school. However, one day, a close friend told me that he thought I'd make a good teacher. At first I dismissed the idea, but the next I decided it wasn't such a bad idea. The rest they say, is history.
